How to setup Enocean Bluetooth?

This setup guide covers the Retrotouch Bluetooth (BLE) Smart Kinetic Switch. This module operates on the 2.4GHz Bluetooth Low Energy spectrum and is designed to integrate with commercial and premium smart lighting networks—most notably Casambi ecosystems, as well as platforms like Hytronik, Prolojik, and Osram Hub Sense.

Because this switch is self-powered via kinetic energy, pairing it requires a specific sequential combination of button presses to broadcast a continuous Bluetooth pairing beacon.

Phase 1: Physical Placement

Because this is a completely wireless, battery-free BLE device, it requires zero electrical connections to function.

  1. Retrofit Application: If you are placing this over an old manual light switch box, turn the mains power off at the breaker.
Use the included terminal block to permanently connect your incoming Live and Switched Live wires together.
This keeps constant power going to your smart Bluetooth light fixtures or drivers.

  2. Mounting: Tuck the bridged wires away and screw the Retrotouch plastic backplate directly into the wall box.
Alternatively, if placing it on a new wall surface or glass partition, use the provided 3M double-sided adhesive pads.

  3. Orientation: Make sure the internal black transmitter module is seated upright (the "Top" marker on the plastic housing should point upward).
Clip your choice of a 1-Gang (single large rocker) or 2-Gang (dual split rockers) plastic face over the unit and snap on the glass front plate.

2: Putting the Bluetooth Switch into Pairing Mode

Standard Bluetooth smart nodes require a continuous broadcast window to be discovered by apps. To force a batteryless kinetic chip to broadcast its pairing sequence, you must enter a mechanical code sequence.

Note: For the steps below, envision a 2-Gang button layout. The positions correspond to: Top-Left (A0), Bottom-Left (A1), Top-Right (B0), and Bottom-Right (B1).

1. Initiate the Radio Wake-Up: Locks the internal channel.

Press and hold down the Top-Left and Bottom-Right buttons simultaneously. Hold them down firmly for 7 full seconds.

2. Trigger the Pairing Broadcast: Forces a continuous BLE beacon.

While still holding those two buttons down, use your other hand to press and release the Top-Right button exactly once.

You can now let go of all buttons. The internal capacitor will store and slowly discharge its voltage, sending out a sequence of Bluetooth pairing tokens for the next 30 seconds.

3: Provisioning in the App (Using Casambi as the Standard)

With your smart light fixtures already powered, turned on, and configured inside your app network, execute the software handshake:

1. Navigate to Switches: Open your active lighting mesh.

Open the Casambi App on your smartphone. Ensure your phone's Bluetooth is turned on. Tap on the More tab in the bottom right corner, and select Switches.

2. Add EnOcean Bluetooth Switch: Triggers the discovery scan.

Tap on Add an EnOcean switch.

(If you triggered Phase 2 correctly, the app will instantly populate the switch profile with its unique MAC address on screen.) Tap the detected switch profile to link it to your mesh network.

3. Select your Rocker Faceplate: Matches your physical hardware.

The app will prompt you to choose your layout. Select the 2D graphic matching your physical installation:

  • 1-Gang: Configures 2 active touch pads (Top/Bottom).

  • 2-Gang: Configures 4 active touch pads (Left Top/Bot, Right Top/Bot).

4. Program Presets and Scenes: Assign custom behaviors.

Tap on each individual button quadrant displayed on your phone screen. You can now map that specific button to target:
  • A single luminaire (On/Off/Dim).

  • An entire group or zone of lights.

  • A specific pre-programmed scene (e.g., "Movie Mode").

Alternative Fast Pairing: NFC (Near Field Communication)

If you have a modern smartphone with NFC enabled, you can completely bypass Phase 2.

  1. Inside the app's Switches menu, tap
    Add an EnOcean switch
    .

  2. When the phone prompts you, physically tap the back or top edge of your smartphone directly against the center of the Retrotouch glass switch faceplate.

  3. The phone's active NFC field will inductively power the switch module's internal chip configuration block wirelessly, causing the phone to vibrate and immediately add the switch to the network without clicking a single button.
